SkinCeuticals new Silymarin CF for oily skin

March 1, 2021
SkinCeuticals Complete Vitamin C range Phloretin CF, C E Ferulic, Silymarin CF

I’ve sung from the rooftops from the love I feel for SkinCeuticals. It is a brand that works. It has a proven track record and is consistently a Beauty Editor’s darling for good reason.

SkinCeuticals is known for Vitamin C. This is how I was first introduced to the brand. When researching ‘best vitamin c’…SkinCeuticals came up again and again. So when I was invited to attend a virtual launch of a new product, ten years in the making…I was so intrigued!

SkinCeuticals has a legacy of science – their first Vitamin C patent was in 1992. This was followed by the release of Serum 10 in 1997, then Phloretin CF in 2008, followed by C E Ferulic in 2012.

Now on March 19, 2021…they will release Silymarin CF.

SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF new serum

Derived from the milk thistle plant, this brand new, high-potency serum was created to fill a gap in the market – a Vitamin C specifically designed for oily skin.

A Vitamin C designed for oily skin.

Oily skin doesn’t have the same levels of antioxidants and has higher levels of lipid oxidation compared to normal or dry skin. Lipid oxidation leads to chronic inflammation and increases blemish formation.

SkinCeuticals knew they needed a product especially for oily skin and knew Silymarin effectively reduced lipid oxidation while also possessing physical properties perfect for oily and blemish-prone skin. This amazing ingredient is something they had in their research archives and they breathed new life into with this formulation.

This formulation came to play. Packed with 15% L-ascorbic acid, Ferulic, and Salicylic acid – this serum neutralizes free radical damage while enhancing antioxidant performance, reduces pore-clogging build-up while acting as an anti-inflammatory with mild antibacterial properties.

Best applied in the morning, followed by sunscreen. You can also use this new serum at night paired with the SkinCeuticals Blemish and Age defense. The new blemish-prone skin power duo.

What are the differences between SkinCeuticals’ Vitamin C serums?

Skinceuticals c e ferulic

The SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic (AKA the one that smells a titch funky) is a perfect Vitamin C serum combating concerns around the signs of aging. It’s great for dry skin and proven to reduce post laser procedure down time.

SkinCeuticals Phlortein CF serum

The SkinCeuticals Ploretin CF is recommended for cases of pigmentation, or discolouration. It refines skin texture and minimizes pores. So this is great for those with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, and sun spots.

Finally – three Vitamin C serums for all skin types and concerns.

The SkinCeuticals Silymarin officially launches in Canada on March 19th and will retail for $190.

A great reminder with all Vitamin C products is to apply in the daytime and always pair them with a SPF.
