The Cover Up of Haunted Room 873 in Banff

October 30, 2018

Was happened in Room 873 at the Banff Springs Hotel and more importantly why is it being covered up?

Years ago I wrote a story (here) about the suspected happenings and haunting of the now missing Room 873.

A story of murder, the spirits still trapped in our world and what past hotel guests have claimed they’ve heard and seen.

And although Room 873 no longer exists as you explore the halls on the 8th floor, the crudely boarded up door frame, hollow wall, cut baseboard and doorway light had always offered a clear signs that this indeed this was once a room.

And all those signs were there until a quick and quiet fix, that was to hopefully to go unnoticed, occurred last year on November 2nd 2017.

Photos submitted by a FAB reader show the wall being replastered in hopes to cover up the last remains of the once existing entrance.

They’ve even went so far as to remove the above doorway light.

The FAB reader not only had a chance to speak with the work crew, she was invited inside room 875 and shown how that room was expanded to include the now mysteriously missing 873.

We may never know the truth behind the historical CP Rail Hotel past secrets, but if one things for sure something happened with room 873 that no one wants us to know.

Mr Fab 873

  1. Who were they. Maybe if the hotel or some one can find out who they were, their story and what lead up to their untimely deaths, the remaining spirits will find their way to the other side. Spirts linger here for a reason. Maybe she wants justice to what happened, and her story told. If it happened to me I would want justice. Screaming gets attention, and bloody hand prints show proof.

  2. I heard a rumour, years ago from someone who stayed at the hotel. It’s believed that the cause of the hauntings is the result of the murder-suicide of a family, caused by the mentally ill father. He had shot his wife, son, and daughter, before shooting himself, as police began to arrive.
