Holiday Gift Guide For Discerning Beauty Lovers

December 2, 2022
Gift guide makeup sets

Today’s holiday gift guide is designed for those discerning beauty lovers in your life. Chic, glittering holiday collections, multi-tasking colour pops for any-season, and new-to-Canada skin care collections from some of my favourite brands.

First up – Trinny London – one of Europe’s fastest-growing beauty brands. If you follow her on social, @trinnylondon or her personal account, @trinnywoodhall, you can feel her passion. Her enthusiasm and authentic personality radiate. The brand was founded in 2017 with the goal of giving everyone the tools to be their best – to innovative and inspire people to change up their routine.

What I think is super handy for the gift buyer is a tool on Trinny London’s website called, Match 2 Me, which is an interactive tool that, after answering a few questions about how you feel about your skincare routine, stress levels, and you are given recommendations of their products to try along with helpful advice-centred articles. And if you’d like more advice, you can book 1:1 virtual skincare and makeup appointments with one of their Pro Makeup Artists (which I think is a great gift idea in itself!).

Trinny London | Targeted, personalized skincare set

I was gifted four of their skincare products based on my skincare type and the packaging, the efficacious and targeted ingredients are something I can’t wait to try and think that discerning beauty lover on your list will, too.

This next brand is one I’ve really fallen for over the past couple years. This Canadian brand, formerly knows as Lise Watier, has been rebranded to ‘Watier‘ and continues to wow. This year’s holiday collection, Golden Moments, is a jaw-dropper that is totally wearable and will give your holiday looks just enough luminosity and flair. Celebrating their last 50 years, this three-piece Golden Moments collection will dazzle the lucky recipient on your list.

Watier | Golden Moments Holiday Collection | $99

Watier Golden Moments collection

9-Colour Eyeshadow Palette | $57
The colours! The pay off and pigment intensity! The blendability! This palette has a gorgeous creamy powder texture with matte, satin, and metallic finishes. I’ve been wearing it every single day and truly it is one of my favourites of all time.

Baked Highlighting Powder | $45
I can’t stop wearing this. It is simply the most perfect luminous wash of that leaves my skin looking radiant, instantly. This powder combines three universal shades to create a natural and luminous finish.

Festive Lip Gloss | $28
The packaging on this gloss is so beautiful. It is a slightly pinky-brown sheer gloss that leaves lips hydrated and nourished without a sticky finish.

Top up the look by adding in the simply gorgeous and totally wearable Golden Moments Lipsticks in ‘Glitter Nude’ and ‘Glitter Pink’ for $28 each. These moisturize and add a beautiful touch of colour to lips.

Armani Beauty | Lip Power Holiday Duo Set | $69

Armani Beauty | Lip Power Holiday Duo Set

Giorgio Armani has a beautifully lux limited edition holiday lip set with two, full-sized Lip Power Long Lasting Satin lipsticks. The colours are their best selling shades, 504 and 104. Buying individually would cost you $102. I love how comfy these wear and how you can layer them up for a hint, or bolder wash of colour. With protective oils for lip hydration and a perfect drop-shape to smoothly and neatly apply. Perfectly chic enough to pop into your holiday party clutch for all-night glam.

e.l.f | Naughty & Ice Lip Gloss Vault | $53

e.l.f | Naughty & Ice Lip Gloss Vault

The e.l.f lip glass vault is a limited-edition holiday gift set with six super-shiny lip lacquers, plus four lip-plumping glosses that gently plump while adding gorgeous shine.

I love kits like this as I often break them up and give glosses to multiple friends that I think the colours will look best on instead of just one friend who may not wear all the shades. I also love how all e.l.f. products are cruelty-free.

Milk Makeup | Lip + Cheek Champions Gift Set | $40

Milk makeup | Lip + Cheek Champions Gift Set

Milk Makeup is extremely popular for a reason. Their products are solid and often hard working multi-taskers, like this Lip + Cheek gift set. Containing five best-selling cream blush and lip tint sticks (that are perfect for travelling or popping in your purse) are hydrating and have a buildable wash of colour you can easily blend with your fingertips, brush, or sponge.

The gift set contains the shades: Werk (dusty rose), Perk (coral with shimmer), Quirk (warm spiced rose), Flip (true red), and Dash (light pink); plus, a cute pink and blue mesh makeup bag.

And the last gift idea for the discerning beauty lover on your list is a virtual makeup lesson with CityLine beauty expert, Dino Dilio.

The Ultimate Makeup Lesson with Dino Dilio | $125-$150

Dino Dilio studio
Photo care of Dino Dilio.

I love love this idea! You can choose between an in-person, 90-minute studio appointment, or a virtual, two-session booking with Dilio who spent almost 30 years as a beauty expert on Cityline with oh so many many celebrity clients. In 2022, Dilio was named a Top Toronto Makeup Artist by BlogTO.com…so you don’t want to miss gifting this fun opportunity.

The Virtual Makeup Lesson’s first session is like a consultation where Dilio learns more about you and your current routine. Together, you’ll choose a look – just for you. After the first virtual session, you’re sent a Beauty Package containing the Art of Beauty Workbook, a 25-page, do-it-yourself resource with personalized illustrations and details. This workbook then guides you through your second lesson where you’ll learn the purpose of each product, tool, and technique as you apply these steps yourself. Best of all – after your lessons, you’ll be ready to pull your new look together quickly with practical beauty strategies and bespoke techniques that will never go out of style.

The in-person session features all of the above – but you are in Dino’s studio with him and he’ll go through your current make-up kit – helping to highlight and eliminate products to streamline your routine. How much fun is this??

Later this week we will release our final gift guide for the ‘tough to buy for’ on your list, so stay tuned!

If you missed it, we recently published two additional gift guides:
