With bags of candy rolling in this Halloween week, adding some extra healthy greens into your snacking rolodex might be a good idea.
The FrankenSmoothie.
We’ve all got canning jars in our home, so why not grab a sharpie and put the kids to task, having them DIY a holiday mug and then serve them up some good stuff to boot.
And what’s inside this simple green smoothie?
For mine, I picked up locally farmed produce from my local No Frills.
Fruit and veggies like kale, green apples and pears, all grown in Alberta.
That and a little liquid in the blender to get it all going and ‘voila’, you’ve created a (healthy) monster!
Green smoothies are quick, simple and affordable to make. And the best part? You can easily customize it to appease even the pickiest family members.
Here’s the general breakdown of leafy greens to ripe fruit proportions to help get you started.
FAB’s FrankenSmoothie
-3 cups of leafy greens
-2 cups of ripe fruit (Fab tip: pre cube and freeze your fruit. It’ll add texture and cold to your smoothie)
-1 cup liquid (Fab tip: use coconut water for added hydration, and for those who hate the taste of coconut milk (me): the fruit and veggies mask the taste)

Happy Halloween!
