As our skin ages, dark spots can creep up – especially on areas where we have more contact with the sun. For me – this is the left side of my face. Years of commuting to work with the sun beaming into the driver’s side window…and now – dark spots!
I wanted to help reduce the appearance of these and want to help you do the same with the three best dark spot treatments for every budget. I know – these are not a bargain, but they are much cheaper than laser treatments (that is how I like to justify them anyway!). And, like L’Oreal says – you’re worth it.
Ok – let’s start with a new-to-market serum from a favourite brand of mine, Biossance. I am really liking this brand’s products and brand ethos. They create skincare without harming the environment or animals. They focus on minimal packaging, carbon-neutral shipping, and they don’t use over 2,000 ingredients that are known to be toxic to you and the environment.
Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum |$62
This serum is both powerful and lightweight. It contains 10% vitamin C for an instant boost of brightness and white shiitake mushroom which is proven to fade dark spots.
Not only does it start degrading dark spots immediately, it keeps working every day to prevent new ones from forming. I use this treatment at night, releasing a small pump, then patting gently into the areas of need on my face.
Shiseido Vital Perfection Intensive WrinkleSpot Treatment | $125
Shiseido’s Vital Perfection products are formulated to lift and firm skin, revealing a revitalized complexion. Everything Shiseido does is LUXE to the max and when I want a little pick me up, I use Shiseido (I love their make-up, too…like their latest Studio 54 collaboration!).
This Vital Perfection Intensive WrinkleSpot Treament is a brand new release and I have been testing it out for the past few weeks. Basically, it is a targeted spot treatment cream containing Shiseido’s ‘4MSK’ technology combined with a pure retinol technology that works to improve deep wrinkles and dark spots.
The perfect two-for-one!
You can use this in the morning and night as your last skincare step. Remember, because this product contains retinol, ensure you follow up with sunscreen during the day. This is not a face cream – so you want to ensure you smooth a small amount onto just your areas of concern.
C E Ferulic from SkinCeuticals |$190
Now, you know I am a super fan of this effective, efficacious brand. You can read all about how these products changed my skin. Arguably the best and most effective brightening serum of all time, CE Ferulic contains ferulic acid and the antioxidant vitamin C which lifts dark marks and prevent new ones from forming. Yes please. I think it is really a staple in the dark spot treatment category. A splurge – but one where you will see results.
I’d love to hear from you on other products you are using for dark spot treatment.
