Valentine’s Day Stuffed French Toast DIY

January 27, 2021

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and with restaurants still closed in many provinces, homemade breakfast in bed feels more appropriate than ever.

With the sweetest of sweets being inevitable treats throughout the day, start the morning off with a recipe that uses simple and recognizable ingredients with no artificial preservatives, colours, or flavours.

My simple recipe below uses the hero of all bread – Oroweat Organic. It is so soft, tasty, and nutritious – without any added nonsense. All of their varieties of bread are organic, plant-based, non-GMO certified and exclude the use of artificial ingredients, preservatives, and colours. Oroweat Organic bread is also sustainably baked with 100% of the energy usage that goes into baking its bread and 100% of the fuel usage that goes into delivering its products with green certificates. They also donate one per cent of revenues to environment causes, giving us delicious, organic bread that makes an impact!

For this breakfast creation I’ll also be using: organic cinnamon, eggs, bananas and Mumgry Peanut Butter which is locally produced in Western Canada, just like Oroweat.

Valentine’s Day Stuffed French Toast

Step 1.

Roll out Oroweat 22 Grain Bread with rolling pin

Step 2.

Cut out bread using a themed cookie cutter or small container

Step 3.

Liberally spread with Peanut butter. (Don’t hold back, you’ll want the PB pouring out!)

Step 4.

Add in slices of organic bananas. (They just taste better).

Step 5.

Cover with second piece of cut Oroweat Bread and pinch seams closed all the way around.

Step 6.

Beat 2 eggs with 1 tbsp of cream and a dash of cinnamon to create the egg wash. Dip French Toast in egg wash.

Step 7.

Fry in buttered non-stick covered pan on medium heat for 2 minutes on each side (or until golden brown)

Plate, gussy and enjoy!

Looking for a savory lunch?

Try this recipe by swapping out the PB and banana for some feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and chopped spinach!

Happy Eating, Happy Valentine’s Day
