National French Bread Day

March 21, 2020

Did you know that there is a law that dictates what can be classified as French Bread?

According to French legislation passed on September 13, 1993 – French bread can only legally contain four ingredients; Wheat Flour, Water, Salt and Yeast.

And why am I sharing this fun little fact?

Because today, March 21st, is National French Bread Day!

It’s time to break out the bread and put your keto diet on hold!

Today is a day dedicated to indulging in the fresh, simple flavours of traditional French breads like the classic French loaf, the baguette, a croissant, ciabatta or brioche.

And what a better way to enjoy French bread than with real fruit jams!

Now usually I indulge with my go-to of olive oil and balsamic vinegar but recently, after being sent a selection of jams from Bonne Maman, I decided to switch up my pairing.

French for ‘grandmother’, Bonne Maman’s jam recipes taste like grandma made them.

Using natural ingredients and high quality fruit, these jams taste exactly like what’s in them… Fruit!

My fave?

The new Raspberry Intense

It is tart and sweet, delicious on a baguette or croissant.

Add a little goat cheese and you’ve got yourself a divine combination.

And Bonne Maman doesn’t just stop at Raspberry.

When I first tried the blueberry jam, all I could think was: ‘Wow it tastes like blueberries!’

The orange marmalade and the apricot jams take you back in time to bittersweet memories.

Bonne Maman jams evoke the feelings of summer with its bright colours and deliciously ripe fruit.

Today is a day of celebration so grab your favourite French Bread and a jar of jam and savourez!

Happy snacking’
