EAT, The Black Sheep

January 11, 2019

I love a buttery pastry and when a new patisserie opens within 10 miles of my home, I can normally smell it out before they even open their doors.

But this time, some how, a buttery little nugget has opened within steps from my home, all without me knowing… Until now!

Welcome to The Black Sheep, Fine Foods and Patisserie!

Tucked between Calgary’s only Arc’teryx and soon to openFjällräven store located along the city’s notable 17th Ave, The Black Sheep is perfectly sized to grab and go or stop for a latte and sweet with a friend.

In the kitchen a French Baker has lovingly created a delicate array of delectable treats.

And a few of my classic French favourite were in attendance.

This exciting twist on the Kouign Amann with its caramelized dough layered with butter and sugar, mixed with banana and nuts hit the top of my wish list, while the version beside it saw a nod to Canada with maple and pecans.

Then there were the croissants!

Almond, chocolate dipped and the above raspberry croissant made with The Black Sheep’s very own raspberry jam.

But those were just the tip of the buttery iceberg.

There were also cookies!

Biscotti and dainty madeleines and shortbread cookie sandwiches filled with salted caramel.

And then there was this cake!

With its lumberjack look , this ganache layered cake truly mixed The Back Sheep’s French talents with Canadian flare!

10’s 10’s 10’s across the board!

Welcome to 17th Ave you delicious neighbour!
