One of the perks of living in Québec are all the apple farms. Go out and pick straight for your tastebuds.
DELICIOUS.
So imagine my delight when Quebec brand Les Vergers LaFrance introduced the first cider vermouth, Rouge Gorge!
First off, can we talk about the INSANELY BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK.
The 1920s vibe of the rouge gorge/red-breasted robin is stunning. Props to the designer.
Next, the taste:
WOW.
To be honest, when I saw vermouth, I was scared as I thought of very dry martinis. Rouge Gorge is a complex concoction that leaves a flavour of caramel apples on the tongue.
It is SO GOOD.
I enjoy it exactly how the makers suggest.
4 oz Rouge Gorge over ice with a quarter of orange. Or do my mini version in antique glassware as seen above.
Bonus: eat a bit of the orange while sipping as it brings out the crisp apple taste even more.
Rouge Gorge can be found in any SAQ. If you’re a fan of cider ice wine, port or scotch, you will adore this cider vermouth.
The elegant flavour of Rouge Gorge has taken my cocktail o’clock up many notches. Plus, what’s not to love about a locally made brand that’s actually scrumptious.
There is nothing like a gorgeous cocktail to make any day brighter.
Merci, Rouge Gorge for bottle of sun-kissed apples!
Bisous,
Mlle Fab Santé
