January. Meh.
But thanks to One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo, the January Blues have been kicked to the curb!
For those in the know, HPR has offered them an interdisciplinary arts festival lasting for four weeks; It is the largest festival of it’s kind in western Canada.
Featuring artists from all across the world, Calgarians are fortunate enough to be exposed to work they would generally never have the opportunity to see.
Merci, OYR (One Yellow Rabbit) curators!
From The Keith Richards One Woman Show. (C’mon, what’s not to love?!)
To Tanya Tagaq in concert with Nanook of the North. (I ADORE her aesthetic.)
But my ultimate show of choice, featuring international clowns Mump & Smoot had me sporting a lasting devious smile upon my face.
The most recent Alberta Theatre Projects’ HPR production named “Mump & Smoot in Anything…with Knooma” was Wickedly funny!
Splurts of blood, flying fingers and no 4th wall.
From the minds of Karen Hines, John Turner and Michael Kennard, this piece is pure black comedy gold. I was SQUEALING in my seat.
The show is currently running DURING THE HPR until Feb 1.
I HIGHLY recommend you grab whatever tickets are left now!
But regardless of your choices, there are so many shows and performances to see, I’m confident you’ll be delighted in whatever you choose.
