When I was a kid I spent my summer holidays on a farm, and in the evening when I’d look up and see the stars twinkle above me, I became a pretty good dreamer.
The twinkles were flashes of light and I was standing on a red carpet while a wall of photographers snapped my picture; I was Elizabeth Taylor. The glamour, the opulence, the perfect life. But this wasn’t old Hollywood, this was a dusty barren prairie farm.
For the last month I’ve been talking about Scotiabank’s ‘Around the World with 20K’ contest, which could turn my, or your, dreams into a reality.
What would you do with $20,000? I’ve already started planning.
I’d fly first class to NYC, hire a stylist and a photographer to follow me… Book a car and driver, employ a personal assistant and enlist a PR team to tell the city “I’d arrived!”
Where would I go?… That would be the fun of it all!
I imagine the scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where Ferris, Cameron and Sloane are letting their hair blow in the wind as they drive through Chicago with the convertibles roof down.
My chariot would come to a stop and I would head inside. A fabulous party, a delicious dinner, backstage at a Broadway show or even a popular night club where I play ‘Studio 54’ and dance the night away!
I’m a Culture Vulture, I live for the experience!
For the day and the night, I would own NYC!
The next day I would wonder if it was all a dream, but then as I turned to Page Six I would see my face; I made the society pages and left my mark on the city! Dreams can be a reality.
And even if I don’t win the ‘Around the World with 20K,’ I know that my friends at Scotiabank are still there to help me live my dreams with their Scotiabank Gold American Express card. The card helps me earn points 4x faster and I can redeem them for travel using their full service travel agency. And the best part; the points can be used to cover any taxes and fees!
So no matter what my dreams, big or small, I know one day it might all be a reality.
