Ontario is hot hot hot in the summer and summer is also wedding prime time. So, as a wedding guest – how can you meet the brief of looking fab without melting? I’ve got you covered. This week I’m featuring three posts with three quick tips anyone can do to elevate their look while remaining humidity and heat proof this wedding season. Today’s dish is all about sleek and chic hair. Summer wedding guests – get ready to look fabulous!
Humidity hair is a real threat to keeping it chic for summer wedding guests.

If you’re on any sort of social media you will see ‘the wet look’ embraced on everything from red carpets to catwalks. The Kardashians, Haily Bieber, Poppy Delevingne, and Bella Hadid have seriously embraced this sultry hair look. And, so can we!
Yes, I am in my 40s and my hair doesn’t behave as well as it did in my 20s…I have less of it and its much finer now than ever before. I’d like to think it’s aging gracefully, like a fine wine ;). But age and hair texture doesn’t mean you can’t adjust catwalk-ready hairstyles to work for you for any occasion. In fact, a sleek and chic hairstyle is exactly what you need to look fab this summer wedding season.
All you need are two products from iconic hair product brand, TRESemmé. What I love about TRESemmé is it’s easy to find at your drugstore or Amazon, it’s affordable, and works so incredibly well.
How did I get my fine, textured hair to stay sleek and chic all night? Here is my super easy tutorial anyone can master.
First, wash that hair. Towel dry and run a quarter-sized dollop of the TRESemmé 5-in-1 Smooth Cream and one pump of the Keratin Smooth Shine Serum through your hair – root to tip.
Then, using a long-tailed comb, find the centre of your face (use your nose as a guide), and part your hair in the centre…this is the part of the moment, so trust me here.
If you are an ‘elder millennial’ like myself – you may feel more comfortable with a side part…but embrace that Gen Z energy and go for that centre-part with gusto. Once you dry your hair (don’t be lazy…you need to use your hair dryer for this, don’t let the air do its thing today) you will literally be amazed how shiny and smooth it is with little to no effort, thanks to these two multi-tasking TRESemmé products. But, don’t stop now – we need to remember we are going to a hot and sticky wedding and need to look as chic as possible.
Next step – style your hair.
Using my Dyson air wrap, I round brush my hair, section by section to really smooth it out. Before I wrap each section, I mist on a bit of texture spray to give it a little more weight and grit to help fight off that humidity. Humidity is a curl killer, so I don’t bother to add any curl into my hair – the round brush has given it enough polish and definition.
Now the fun part. Ensure your centre part is crisp and smooth. Smooth out both sides with a fine-tooth comb (or even a toothbrush). Then, using a dime-sized amount of the TRESemmé 5-in-1 Smooth Cream and a half-pump of the Keratin Smooth Shine Serum, rub together in your hands and literally smooth it on the top of your head in a downwards motion. This is where your hair transforms! It goes from tamed and soft to sleek and chic; the ‘wet look’ lite 😉 . Keep most of the product at the front, but feel free to run the rest of the product through to your tips (it will never weigh it down or make it look greasy).
These TRESemmé products make your hair unbelievably glossy and will keep any ‘humidity hair’ at bay, all night long.
I left my hair down to really show off that shine, but you can also wear your hair in a low chignon – it all depends on your outfit and the style you wish to achieve.
My final style hack for any fancy event is to wear a headband. Instant glam. Instant Princess Kate vibes;)
