Ontario is hot hot hot in the summer and is also the prime time to get hitched. So, as a wedding guest – how can you meet the brief of looking fab without melting? I’ve got you covered. This week I am featuring three posts with three quick tips anyone can do to elevate their look while remaining humidity and heat proof this wedding season. Today’s dish is all about a spray tan. Summer wedding guests – get ready to look fabulous!
Summer weddings can be tricky because you’ve been in the sun, you probably have some tan lines, and that dress you chose to wear is strapless…
Rather than looking uneven, or attempting to self tan, get yourself a spray tan.
But not just any spray tan. Don’t you want a tan in the comfort of your own home – so there is no downtime, no worries about your tan not being dry before you hop in your car to drive home? Yes, believe me, you do.
I was introduced to Tan on The Run and will never look back. Canada’s first mobile tanning salon, this amazing company comes to you – wherever that may be! This guarantees there’s no awkward sticky drying time, no worries about flashing strangers…and all in less than 30 minutes.
Highly trained professional tanners relieve any potential stress of looking ‘orange’ or ‘streaky’. Their tans are the most seamless, natural, and beautiful tans I’ve ever tried. Using no harmful UV rays, Tan on the Run is really for everyone…even the allergic like me as they have hypoallergenic formulas for us sensitive folks.
So how does Tan on the Run actually work?
Here is the low down of my experience. I was booked in easily and professionally, finding a perfect time that worked for me. I was staying at a hotel and just needed to text my room number to my tanning technician, Dee. Before she arrived I followed all the pre-tan instructions that were sent over.
Here is a run down of top tan prep tips:
- Exfoliate and shave the day before
- Do not have any deodorant, lotions, or moisturizers on your skin as they will prevent the tan from working in those areas
- Tie your hair up and back
- Make sure you have a robe handy for before and after
- You can choose if you wish to wear undies or not (men have to wear ‘socks’ over their bits)
- Make sure you have a towel you are OK to have stained to stand on while your tan is being applied
- Right before the tan, to prevent tan build up – moisturizer the palms of your hands, in between your fingers and toes, elbows, heels and the tops of your nails
Arriving promptly, Dee quickly assembled her pop up dome tent in the corner of the room. She gave me a shower cap to protect my hair, laid my towel down at the bottom of the tent to stand on, and made sure I was prepared and ready. We chatted about the look I wanted to achieve and the type of tan I was going to get (as there are options for everyone!). When I took off my robe, Dee had place these little foot stickers for me to step on – this prevents the tan from gathering on the soles of your feet. So, I stepped onto those and stepped into the tent.
Because I am pale as a potato, I wanted something naturally elevated looking. Dee recommended I try their new Invisatan product. The very cool thing with this type of tan is it’s a clear tanning solution.
Invisatan is natural formula that is universal for all skin tones. It’s vegan and cruelty free, and perfect for anyone that has allergies to bronzers. What I love about it is how you can get your tan and nearly immediately go on with your day. There is really no downtime needed because it’s clear. And because it’s clear, you don’t have to worry about it transferring on your sheets or clothing. Now, many tan technicians don’t love a clear product as they can’t see where they are spraying, but Invisatan actually glows under black light so there is no risk of missed areas or overlapping.
For me, I was instructed to shower at the two-hour mark to achieve the shade I wanted. But, depending on the desired shade – you can shower up to 8 hours later. After two hours, I rinsed and went on with my day – waking up looking like a golden goddess. Seriously. I feel so so good in a tan.
To keep the tan on as long as possible – avoid using exfoliants or harsh soaps and remember to moisturize! I love Tan on the Run’s, ‘Oh So Organic‘ product line to do just this – their whipped Shea Butter is the perfect product to apply twice daily to keep that glow as long as possible.
And finally, the perfect bonus of a spray tan for summer wedding guests – you can forego foundation which can tend to melt and feel heavy in the heat! It gives your face a perfect tint and helps hide imperfections. Chef’s kiss.
