In today’s post I share more incredible SPF options PLUS after sun care. So buckle up and get ready to take notes – here are some of the best, new sun protection and after-sun care you will love.

Eau Thermale Avène Aqua-Fluid SPF 50 ultra-lightweight for sensitive skin | $31
This brand new SPF heavy-hitter from Avène is a new go-to. The Avène Aqua-Fluid is a cool combo of mineral, organic screens and filters for a broad-spectrum UVB-UVA protection. I adore its ultra-light texture that’s perfect to use everyday and under makeup.
The Aqua-Fluid is made for the face and is suitable for all types of sensitive skin. It’s ultra-lightweight, fragrance-free, photostable, and has a silky, invisible finish.
Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 42 | $45
I love everything Shiseido so I was thrilled to try the new Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Sunscreen. Marketed as ‘sun-powered skincare’, their Sun Dual Care™ Technology is infused with Hyaluronic Acid (we love), protects against pollution, boosts hydration, and leaves a soft, matte finish. Perfect for those with oily complexions…or any of us in the Summertime tbh. Water-resistant for 40 minutes, this wonder product also doubles as a face primer and its incorporation of spirulina energy essence actually converts sunlight to target factors that can lead to dryness. I love the texture, wearability, and how comforted it makes my skin feel, even in the hottest heat.
Burt’s Bees SPF 30 Gentle Day Lotion | $15
This is a wonderful lightweight SPF made for those with sensitive skin and those who love a good multitasker. Made with aloe and rice milk, this soft, fast-absorbing SPF day lotion soothes and calms the skin.
I love the Sensitive Solutions collection from Burt’s Bees, as you can peruse here, and this is another winning product. Easily layered under makeup, or worn on its own – this is fragrance-free, gentle and helps soothe the look of redness. Plus – the price is right.
AVEENO sensitive skin sunscreen stick SPF 50 | $15
I have to say, I’m addicted to this sunscreen stick! It makes this pale body feel confident I can go in the sun and not come back a tomato. I love how easy it is to apply – it’s mess free and doesn’t melt. It’s SPF 50, works great for your face and body, and is sweat- & water-resistant for up to 80 minutes.
I think it’s perfect to pop in your bag for easy re-application. No spills, no greasy stains. It glides on easily, is designed for sensitive skin, and is really just the full package. I totally recommend for travelling, keeping in your car to ensure those hands are protected while driving, and every day use as it even wears well under foundation.
Now, we all have ‘missed a spot‘, or ‘are just popping out for a minute‘ and easily can overdo it in the sun. The next two products are for just that – those times where you’ve had too much sun and maybe even experienced a burn.
Curù Skin after sun | $114
This brand was recently introduced to me and I was instantly hooked. Taking years to create – Curù Skin uses a blend of 14 active ingredients that are seasonally harvested, cold pressed, and vegan. A Mediterranean-inspired Canadian brand, this after sun facial oil is equal parts luxury and functional.
The replenishing qualities of the pure botanicals this silky formula incorporates repair, hydrate and build up your skin barrier. I find this product relieves my skin if I’ve had too much sun, it reduces the look of redness, softens and soothes, while never irritating. A little goes a long way – I drop a few drops in my hands, warm it up and then gently massage into my skin.
Drunk Elephant Wonderwild™ Miracle Butter Rescue + Remedy| $51
Another fab post-sun recovery product is the restorative Drunk Elephant Wonderwild miracle butter rescue + remedy. This salve really does it all – it soothes hot, irritated skin, helps with chapped or dry skin and helps kick-start skin’s natural healing abilities.
Packed with plant butters like marula, mango, shea, and cupuaço – this is a richer, thicker product. Meadowfoam, pumpkin, rose hip, and green tea seed plant oils are included in the formulation as they are antioxidants and rich in fatty-acids – perfect for compromised skin barriers.
I love using this on dry, chapped lips and anywhere your skin could use a little extra love and attention.
We don’t think about clothes being a line of defence when it comes to sun protection – but truly – you can dress for success while dressing for sun defence.
Columbia sun hat Summerdry™ Reversible Bucket Hat | $49.99
I never leave the house in the Summer (actually most times of the year I am covering my head) with out a hat. And Columbia has your 90s throwback dream come true with their Summerdry Reversible Bucket Hat.
This hat is not only water-repellent but is UPF 50. So it blocks the sun while being super comfortable and stylish.
Columbia Women’s PFG Tidal Deflector™ Printed Long Sleeve Shirt | $89.99
I just love this top and have been wearing it for all my Summertime activities – boating, gardening and going on hikes. The fabric this long sleeve shirt uses is very innovative – it actually deflects the sun.
With UPF 50 it helps keep you cool and protected; wicking moisture away from your skin.
