Today I joined my friends on Global Calgary to share a few of this years 2022 Pride Collections which celebrate and support the LGBTQ community.
Here’s a closer look at the items I shared:
In appreciation of our community’s past and to honour those who stood proudly, we have brought back the Hot Pink and Turquoise colours, which were removed from the original Pride flag in 1978, and utilized them in a design to show how we continue to love thanks to or communities past contributions.
We have titled this shirt ‘naturally you’ and have collaborated with artist Mike Hooves on its design, asking them to show our diverse community, our people and our families in our natural dynamics.
To add to this sentiment, Local Laundry has created the new garment using a natural (no dye) bamboo fabric.
This year they share their iconic 1461 shoe as a blank canvas to amplify the colors of the Progress Pride flag which is embossed on the shoes smooth leather upper.
“Pride is more than a single moment in the calendar. Gender identity and sexual orientation are important every single day. It’s disrespectful to think otherwise. That’s why we are continuing our year-round partnership with The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQIA+ youth. In this, our 6th year of partnership with The Trevor Project, we are continuing our sponsorship with a $200,000 commitment.”
EQUALITY HAS NO OFF SEASON.
“We talk about the finish line…Pride is not the end of the line. On June 30th, we don’t just scrub away the rainbows—the finish line is where every athlete, no matter who they are or who they love, has the opportunity to compete.”
This year, Under Armour is partnering with Unmatched Athlete, a non-profit whose mission is to help kids, ages 5-18, who identify as LGBTQ+ and allies to participate in sports and fitness—becoming well rounded student athletes.
UA is also providing Under Armour Pride Grants. These grants—up to $10k each—are awarded to organizations that support access to sport or provide health and wellness opportunities to the LGBTQ+ community. If you or someone you know would like to apply for a grant, please click here. You will be asked to create an account. Follow the steps on the website and you will be taken to the UA application page.

In support of this collection, Levi’s® makes an annual $100,000 USD donation to OutRight Action International, a global organization working to advance human rights for LGBTQ+ people all over the world
