This is the one topic I get asked about THE MOST. The best SPF. More specifically, the best SPF for sensitive skin. Well, do I ever have a diverse list for you this year – 2022’s best new SPF for sensitive skin.
Last year I focused my annual SPF round on up tinted and non-tinted SPF options. This year I wanted to showcase SPFs for sensitive skin AND SPFs in different formats – I got powder, cream, sticks, and even a lip balm – something for everyone.
So buckle up and take a look at some of 2022’s best new SPF for sensitive skin.
SPF is the key step in any skincare routine, I’ve said before if you don’t use SPF daily, you may as well throw every other skincare product in your routine out because you’re wasting your money. Daily SPF use is the foundation for achieving your best skin.
OK – so the first SPF product – you know my love of AlumierMD. Last year I featured their tinted, Sheer Hydration SPF 40. It’s still a go-to for me. But this year – another tinted AlumierMD came across my desk and I LOVE IT!
The tinted AlumierMD Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 40 – I use shade, Ivory. It also comes in shades Sand and Amber | $49
Now, this formula may not be a hit with everyone – but here’s why I really love it – this SPF goes on thick. It goes on white. It then transforms into the perfect shade-match for your skin tone using their colour-encapsulated tech. Why I love this is – it makes sure I can see where I’ve applied it. I don’t miss an inch. I not only feel fully protected but lovely and glowy all day.
Not only does the formula have a combo of zinc oxide and titanium dioxides – it has caffeine, silybin and knotgrass extract – powerful antioxidants – that helps diminish the visible damage triggered by free radicals. I forego moisturizer in the Summer when I wear this as this also lightly moisturizes while absorbing excess oil to create a perfect finish.
The Eau Thermale Avène high protection SPF 50 Spray | $34
Oh don’t we just love a spray. So convenient for touch-ups throughout the day. So lightweight and fancy free! Now – why I love this new Avène SPF spray for sensitive skin is it’s great for your beautiful face and hot bod.
It’s also approved by the Canadian Dermatology Association, does not leave a white cast, is waterproof for up to 40 minutes, and the formula contains a powerful antioxidant, Provitamin E (pre-tocopheryl), for a cellular-level protection against free radicals. This formula incorporates the iconic Avène Thermal Spring Water and it smells really lovely.
IDC Dermo’s new SOLIs+ SPF 30 mineral anti-aging sunscreen powder|$59
IDC Dermo focuses on pro-aging skincare products and their new SOLIs+ SPF offers broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. This purse and pocket friendly loose mineral powder SPF goes on quickly and easily. You just tap the brush downwards to collect the silky powder in the brush that you then sweep across your face. I like to use this powder in combo with my daily sunscreen when I need touch-ups throughout the day. Its powder texture also helps absorb and regulate excess shine. This handy, effective product is available in two shades – fair and medium/dark.
Attitude natural care is a brand I was introduced to earlier this year with their fab shampoo and conditioning bars – they kindly sent me their sun care suite of products that I want to walk you through today.
Why I really like Attitude is they are leaders in the plastic-free beauty industry, vegan, and locally made – in Montreal.
Here is a look at the ATTITUDE range of plastic-free sun care products. It comes with tinted and sensitive skin SPF 30 sunscreen sticks, as well as a new SPF 15 lip balm (in coconut…my ultimate favourite).
The plastic-free mineral sunscreen face sunscreen sticks are for adults and kids, they’re all hypoallergenic, vegan and have never been tested on animals. They’re easy to apply, easy to pack, and leave no white marks – completely suitable for all skin tones! I am a really big fan of this brand and their SPF sticks are a huge hit for me (they are also priced totally right…and can be purchased on subscription for even less :).
