Biologique Recherche | Why I Love It

Founded 40 years ago, French beauty company, Biologique Recherche, functioned like a “research and development laboratory” focusing on developing formulas for professionals who wanted more from existing product lines. Today, Biologique Recherche is an international brand with a reputation of high-end, personalized beauty care that is effective, pure, raw, concentrated and innovative.

With a reputation like this, I was thrilled to try three of their products – one of which has been heralded with such passionate reverenance, I was ready for a life-changing experience, let alone a skin-changing one.

With the title of this story behind a dead giveaway on how I feel about this French beauty line…let’s get right into the Biologique Recherche products I tried without any dilly-dallying.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 PIGM 400

Now, you will see this product with a few names. The Canadian version of this cult-favourite (Lotion P50 PIGM 400) does not have the notorious ‘stench’ its European or American counterparts have as our version does not contain phenol, an ingredient not allowed in skincare here in Canada. 

I have been told the P50 Lotion smell reminds some of soured milk or strong vinegar…so I am quite pleased P50 PIGM 400 smells perfectly neutral.

Now – what IS Lotion P50 PIGM 400, you ask?! 

To quickly describe it, its a liquid exfoliator. 

But this does not do it justice. It is more like a rare beauty category hybrid. It not only exfoliates and tones while neutralizing the PH of your skin, it is packed with anti-free radicals, vitamins and witch hazel which work to clear and brighten the look of your skin while working as a moisturizing agent and sebum controller. It also reduces the look of pigmentation marks and prevents them from appearing. And, finally, it improves the efficacy of your other skincare products following use. I mean. Can I get a slow clap?!

I have been using this lotion nightly for one month and upon the very first use my skin felt immediately softer. The pores around my nose are less congested and overall my makeup is wearing better and even in the stickiest of humid days, my face does not get greasy. This product is worth the splurge and the hype. 

Biologique Recherche Emulsion Originelle

What is an emulsion, you ask?

Emulsions are a staple in Korean skincare and can be easily thought of as a lighter version of a moisturizer. They are normally lighter with a thinner texture than your moisturizer and formulated to lock in the benefits of your serums and essences. They are best applied after your serum and before your moisturizer.

Biologique Recherche Emulsion Originelle is one of the best emulsions I have ever tried. With a cooling scent (almost like fresh dirt and cucumbers…I’m into it) and light-weight texture, this formula combines essential fatty acids and a botanical complex that not only moisturizes, but calms and soothes.

I have been using this after the P50 PIGM 400 and serum. Because it is so hot and humid out, I have then been applying eye cream and moisturizer only on the high points of my face, skipping my t-zone as I simply don’t need any additional moisture when I’m wearing the Emulsion Originelle.

Biologique Recherche Serum A-glyca

The texture of this serum is unlike one I’ve ever tried before. It’s as light as water and instantly absorbs into my skin when gently massaged. The Serum A-glyca was designed specifically to protect the skin from premature aging. It helps reduce lines and wrinkles through protecting your skin’s natural elastin and collagen. It also helps to bring additional radiance to skin.

I really enjoy this serum, especially in the hot months, because it is so lightweight. I have been using after the P50 PIGM 400 and before the Emulsion and my skin has truly never looked more balanced and even. 

I really don’t get this excited by a product line that often, so I am so happy to be sharing the love with you, Friends.
