But what happens when the Trucks are challenged to create something new?
It’s turns in to a Battle Royale for the ‘Tasty Trophy’!
Today (11-7) and Tomorrow (11-7) – May 25 & 26 – in ContainR park in Kensington/Sunnyside, a unique Food Truck Frenzy has begun where the trucks will be creating their versions of TACOS!
So what can you expect?
Well in the name of reporting, I donned my stretchy pants and snacked my way through the frenzy to share my top picks!

The Cheesiest
Family Cheesed
-Chilled Cheese Dirty Taco, $12
An over-stuffed classic cheddar grilled cheese sandwich folded and filled with seasoned ground beef, shredded cheddar and cherry tomatoes, served with a side of fries.
The Sweetest
Cookie Dough YYC
-Cookie Dough Cookie Tacos, $10
Oreo Cookie shells with a variety of soft and raw edible dough centers.
Peanut Butter Dough with Reese’s Pieces, Sugar Cookie with Marshmallow and Classic Chocolate Chip all topped with colourful sprinkles.
Most Bang For Your Buck
Ms. Mac n’ Cheese
-Taco in a Bag, $5
A crushed bag of Cheesy Doritos served with a dollop of Mac n’ Cheese and another of Ground Beef. Then topped of with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and onions.
Classic Perfection

-Al Pastor Pork Taco, $9 (3 peices)
3 tacos stuffed with guajillo, chipotle, anchiote chilies. With pineapple salsa and mozzarella cheese.
Culture Twist
The Dumpling Hero
- KFC Baos, $12 (2 pieces)
Korean fried chicken wrapped in freshly steamed taco baos, tossed in housemaid honey garlic sauce and served with garlic french fries.
These are bigger and more filling than they looked!

This is THE craziest and most original ‘Taco’ at the frenzy because they let YOU become the chef!
Starting with a cotton candy shell it’s topped with 2 scoops of ice cream, loaded with your choice of candies, drizzled in chocolate sauce and dazzled with your favourite coloured sprinkles.
Laziest
Ukraine Fine Foods
Taco Perogies, $10
These by far are the laziest stretch to be considered ‘Tacos’… BUT they are undeniably delicious and filling.
Simple Pierogies, fried and topped with hamburger meat, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and green onions.
