If you’re budget won’t allow you to soak up the sun poolside at Gianni Versace’s former home, a light and affordable lunch will get you inside the iron walled mansion.
Now owned by the Victor Hotel Group, you can enjoy a 3 course lunch (4 courses of you count the freshly baked warm bread with balsamic, olive and chilli oil), served Monday-Sunday between 12-3:30 for as low as $29.
(Some of the menu selections have supplementary charges)
Firstly, you need to know, you need to book ahead. You can not just waltz in. You won’t even make it up the steps, past the first check point, so don’t even embarrass yourself by trying. They turn away 100’s of people a day
So what is lunch like inside the mansion?
Unbelievably delicious and unbelievable under priced.
After dipping bread, you’ll start with your choice of 7 appetizers.
For me it was between the Zucchini Blossoms or Buratta, but the Burrata with its confit cherry tomatoes and bed of greens won out.
This one dish alone was well worth my $29 experience, I was off to an incredible start.
Next up was the difficult choice of the 7 entree choices.
Pastas, fish, beef and chicken dishes were all represented and accounted for, but for my dish I went with the grilled Australia Lamp Chops with pan fried Brussels sprouts.
Well done as recommended by the chef, the portion was perfectly sized for lunch without leaving me hungry.
Lastly, to conclude, a choice of 3 dessert options; Fresh Fruit, Gelato or Sorbetto.
But sadly for me, reality called and it was time to head to the airport for an afternoon flight leaving me dessert free. Which was probably for the best
A $29, plus tax and tip, experience (which the server made bizarrely and abundantly clear before we began) was in actuality a priceless memory I’ll have forever.
So be sure to make a reservation in advance and stroll in like the invited guest you are.
