As a kid, Monday night TV was my favourite.
We had Full House, Urkel and endless commercials for Popeyes Chicken.
Only problem: I lived in Canada and Popeyes was an unobtainable dream!
But now, I’m able to live my best fried chicken life because Popeyes Chicken is not only here in Canada, it has opened right down the street from me on Calgary’s bustling 17th Ave!
Hand battered and floured fresh every 10 minutes, this southern style Louisiana Fried Chicken is available in both Mild and (my fave) Spicy!
Uniquely crispy, Popeyes Bonafide Chicken is always served hot and fresh as are their buttery, flaky, drool worthy Buttermilk Biscuits!
And if those 2 items weren’t already enough to make the most perfect meal, there are several other signature sides to choose from!
There’s Corn on the Cob, Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potato and Cajun Gravy, Fries and Onion Rings. All exceptional choices… But my 2 top faves have got to be the creamy, sweet Coleslaw (which I’m certain has a touch of dill) and the Rice & Beans whose flavour reminds me of a Tennessee smokehouse!
But guess what Canada?! That’s not all!
There’s a few more choices on a special ‘Local Fares’ menu and one in particular has my tastebuds whipped into a major frenzy!
Behold the Cajun Poutine.
Popeyes famous Cajun fries, loaded with fresh cheese curds and smothered in Louisiana seasoned slow cooked gravy.
It’s all kinds of unexplainable deliciousness!
Oh Popeyes Chicken how I longed for your tasty offerings and now that you’re here, I couldn’t be more happy!
