It’s always this time of the year when I am hunting down inspiration for a fresh do. There are so many great new looks in style right now from blunt shags to slicked back. This year, I went brunette and got bangs! Now, for a fine-haired gal like myself, bangs were risky business…but I’m so glad I took the risk.
But, one thing I noticed with bangs is they can weigh the overall look of my hair down. Volume and texture is what I needed and Shu Uemura came to the rescue with two products that have transformed my hair from ‘Flat-to-FAB’.
SHU UEMURA ART OF HAIR TEXTURE WAVE: $42.00
I am already experiencing sadness for when this product runs out. I love it so much. In a few sprays it takes my bodiless, fine hair and gives it remarkable oomph and personality.
What I love most about it is it acts like a hairspray but allows my hair to move…without feeling weighed down or sticky. I use it as soon as I am done curling my hair and it takes those tight, tamed curls and turns them into sexy, tousled, loose waves that dreams are made of. Hello, 90s Supermodel hair!
SHU UEMURA VOLUME MAKER: $50.00
Flat as a pancake describes my hair’s natural state. I have tried so many volumizing products with no success. From mousse to sprays to hair dryer attachments – nothing has shown me the respect my volumizing effort deserves…until this little purse-sized wonder product!
How this product works is the powder is contained in the tube and when you press the bottom, which is a button, it pushes the powder through the long bristles at the top. Then, you apply the product directly to your hair, where your roots meet your scalp. The powder becomes stiff and you can manually lift your hair up where you applied the powder to. It is almost like it slightly stiffens the hair at the root, giving the hair lift and faux volume. I like to apply this product to the top of my hair, near my part to fake some volume and body.
