Spring is on the way and your make-up game is ready for some dewy, glowy radiance. The best way to juice up your winter beauty routine is highlighting.
Not to be confused with the highlighters we grew up with…save those yellow, pink and green markers for scholastic endeavors – I am talking about beauty highlighters – AKA, illuminators.
First – ditch anything you have leftover from your club days; highlighting does mean adding glitter!
Next – hit up your local drugstore! Highlighting does not need to drain the bank and there are so many incredible products on the market for under the price of a week of lattes.
Here are the very best drugstore highlighters on the market in Canada I think you will love adding into your routine!
Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter – by Maybelline Face Studio
For under $10 this creamy, super blendable highlighter comes in two great shades, Light – Iridescent and Medium – Nude Glow. Why I love this highlighter is because of its size and non-messy nature. You can pop this into your purse and travel with this little guy and you don’t have to worry about it spilling or breaking apart.
Vichy’s Teint Ideal Highlighter
Though nearly triple the price of the Maybelline stick, the Vichy Teint Ideal Highlighter is a product I keep going back to. This gives you the ultimate, ‘naturally lit from within’ look I love wearing on those days I don’t want to wear a lot of face make-up. It blends in so flawlessly it is also the perfect product for those of us with eye wrinkles, as it doesn’t accent them or get caked around them.
Stila’s Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in Kitten
Coming in three shades, I love the subtle pink and gold tone of stila’s kitten highlighter. It looks gorgeous on all skin tones. Now, this product is not subtle but is perfect for those occasions you really want your cheekbones to pop. The texture is almost bouncy to the touch and it melts into your skin for a barely-there finish.
JOE Fresh Highlighter Stick in Pink Pearl
JOE Fresh beauty prices are always right and this creamy highlighter in Pink Pearl is a gorgeous colour and texture for all skin tones. I like creamy highlighters as they blend in easier than powder and look more natural. Similar to the Maybelline stick, I love the non-messy tube as it’s a perfect gym bag or travel companion.
Wet n Wild’s Hello Halo Liquid Highlighter collection
I recently shared my true love of this product on The Marilyn Denis showand can’t stop wearing it!
First – the price is right. Wet n Wild is known for unbelievable prices and this liquid highlighter can be found for $15. Pricer than the JOE Fresh and Maybelline sticks…but in comparison to the iconic Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drop (for which it is the perfect dupe), it’s $37 cheaper. I love me a dupe!
Coming in six colours, this blendable, liquid highlighter goes on great over top of foundation, or mixed into your foundation to create a sheerer, dewy finish. I love this stuff and not only mix it into my foundation, I blend it into my cheek bone, cupid’s bow, under the arch of my brow and down the center of my nose…depending on what I am wearing, I will also blend it into my shoulder blades and invite them to the party, too.
Wondering how to get the perfect ‘lit from within’ look without looking like a human disco ball?
