Tomorrow (June 23rd) a new restaurant experience will open in Calgary with a rather interesting twist.
1918 Tap & Table is a not for profit restaurant, owned by the Royal Canadian Legion Kensington chapter, through whom all proceeds made will be given away!
The Kensington Legion will fund the proceeds into community based initiatives and organizations such as the Scouts.
Located in a newly constructed mixed-use building, 1918’s moody yet brightly lit restaurant encompasses the main floor, and above houses the Legion’s new private members lounge.
1918 Tap & Table will be open to the public from morning to night serving Lunch and Dinner on weekdays and the addition of Brunch items on the weekend.
Under the direction of Chef Chris Murphy, 1918 will see its seasonal menu completely change every 3 months, so offerings like its Rosemary Pork Benedict, (Shaved Rosemary Pork Shoulder, Buttermilk Biscuit, Lemon Hollandaise & Pan Roasted Organic Potatoes) will only be available for a limited time.
All offerings will include locally sourced ingredients.
In addition to the ‘Table’, 1918’s ‘Tap’ will also see rotating seasonal cocktails like its No Way Frosé (blended frozen rose, house-made strawberry simple syrup and lemon juice), this will also be gone before you know it.
And if you’re an ale fan, 1918 has their own 1918.
A special collaborative ale with Village Brewery.
As well as a number of other proudly local craft breweries on tap.
The entire concept behind 1918 Tap & Table is really something great.
Great food, great drinks, great interior and a great patio I haven’t even mentioned yet, this may be a new home for the legion but its restaurant is a welcome home for Calgarians and their community.
Well done!
Mr. Fab 1918
So cool!
