Toronto’s Interior Design Show (IDS) is held in one of the largest convention centres this city has to offer and let me tell you, it is packed with so much drool-worthy design, innovative prototypes and luxurious products, it made this design-lovers’ heart skip a beat.
If you are keen to experience the show, pack a snack, put your walking shoes on and prepare to be dazzled.
From Miele’s ‘restaurant’ concept complete with a working bakery to Caesarstone’s interactive stone swing set – this year’s show is the best so far.
Here are my Top Five Must Sees:
- Andrew Richard Design – Booth #1322
This stunning garden oasis highlights the innovative fabrics and cozy design you can bring into your outdoor space.
2. House & Home Magazine’s Kitchen – IKEA Booth #926
The dark, romantic colours, the contrasting cabinetry and those statement lights…it is what my kitchen would look like if I lived in my dreams.
3. Foxwedge – Booth #SN15
Incredible custom furniture caught my eye at this booth tucked into Studio North.
I think the ‘Decomposition’ table is a stand out piece, capturing a feeling of falling and movement through the use of gorgeous blocky wood.
4. Cubitat – Booth #600
A collaboration between Urban Capital and Nichetto Studio, this prototype wants to make architecture a product. With this concept, you can customize your living cube, it then gets made, delivered and installed and all you have to do is plug it in. This concept is to create a moveable, completely functional living cube that has everything from a shower to a full kitchen.
I was blown away by how this moveable cube concept could be so applicable on both an urban and rural scale. Its so modern but so functional.
5. National Bank – Booth #1328
This event sponsor’s booth is offering two amazing opportunities for people attending IDS. First, you can book in a free consultation with a leading interior designer. Just bring photos of what you need help with and leave with some great, free, ideas.
They are also offering a $10,000 prize for one lucky attendee that will set them up on their way to interior design bliss.
It was really difficult to nail down just five of my favourites when so many booths went above and beyond this year.
Two more things to mention:
1. Make sure to stop by the Miele Booth #1734 for your chance to win an exclusive three-course culinary experience created by Chef de Cuisine Jonathan Collins
2. Jonathan Adler, one of my personal favourites, will be a guest speaker on Global Style Saturday. Don’t want to miss that!!
