For the last month I have been working on a very special project for charity.
Right now on display at the Home & Design Show, as a part of the IKEA Chair Lift Competition, is a one of a kind redesign of the classic IKEA Poang chair, conceptualized and created by Fab!
Myself and 9 other notable Calgarians have re-worked the chair and have put them up for silent auction bids with the proceeds going directly to the ‘Children’s Make a Wish Foundation’
The chair, which took me 8+ hours to complete has numerous layers of paint which were then hand sanded through to create a very weathered patina finish.
Here is my concept;
“The Travelling Circus is one of the oldest forms of entertainment in the world.
Its priority was to bring joy, laughter and wonderment to people of all ages.
The performers came from all walks of life and were welcomed like family!
No matter your differences the show was meant to highlight each act and make them feel like the ‘STAR ATTRACTION’
Much like the travelling circus, Mr. Fab takes his readers on a journey and shares a similar concept;
“No matter who you are, what you have, or where you come from, we all deserve a moment to feel fabulous!”
Just like the performers under the Big Top felt!”
I’m honored to be a part of such a great project and I couldn’t be more delighted that children will be able to see their dreams come to reality thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation
Chairs are currently up for bids at the Home & Design Show until September 24.
Hope you love it!
