Last night marked the end of CIFF 2011 and what a great festival it was. I am so grateful to their team for including me in this years Galas.
With 3 different Galas during the two-week event, they were sure to include something for everybody.
Saturdays sold-out Closing Gala featured the film ‘Take this Waltz’ with one of my favorite actresses, Michelle Williams, and an amazing performance by Sarah Silverman.
Instead of the typical ‘married women strays outside her marriage and finds the true love of her life’, this story is very accurate to real life. A married women thinks her marriage is stagnant and strays, only to realize that all relationships become “routine”. Never truly being satisfied or realizing what she actually had in the first place.
If you are a guy, you should see this film so you know what your wife is up to or so you know what will happen in your marriage. If you are a girl, you should watch this so you can see that, yes you too will have these feelings but know that what you have is really good… and the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
The film was my favorite flick of the festival and a very nice way to wrap it up. The finish to the perfect festival: Unlimited pizza from Double Zero Pizza and a bevy from Stella, who were the Gala sponsors.
I am looking forward to see whats in store for next years’ festival. And a reminder to my readers that these Galas sell out every year so get your tickets early!
