If you haven’t figured it out by my meer size, I am a ‘foodaholic’ and I don’t discriminate.
Naturally eating my way through the midway is one of my favorite aspects of the Calgary Stampede and this year they did not disappoint! You still have two days to eat like a pro! Here’s how I did it;
I started my day at 11:00 with breakfast. A deep-fried Poptart. Lets face it, when you take it straight from the box, it’s far too healthy.
Then I moved on to a wee snack; a coffee and doughnut (burger). Yes you heard me right. A Doughnut Burger. This health conscious choice is a maple glazed doughnut cut in half then slammed with a 1/4lb of beef, cheese and bacon. Perfect to keep my topped up till lunch.
For lunch I weighed my options… Deep Fried Pickles and a Pork Parfait
or a Colossal Onion? The later won out. A freaky large onion, battered and deep-fried, with a side of low-fat ranch dressing.
The the fair standard, a bag of Mini Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts to cleanse my palette as a browsed around looking for dinner options.
I didn’t need to waste time looking too long, I knew exactly what I wanted. My #1 fair food item. Pizza on a Stick. A paint stir stick caked with the a football sized pizza style pepperoni calzone.
As the hot cheese grease dripped down my hand and arm, I reflected on all the great choices I had made and dreamt of all the possibilities next year might hold for me.
I love you fair food, you are my one true love!
