First off, a big thank-you to the team at Big Rock Breweries for the invite to this yearly sold out event. My seat was better than great; wedged between xoxojes and Fraser from X92.9 the whole time trying to figure out who smelt better. I was in for a night I would not soon forget:
Calgary’s glitz and glam red carpeted event, The Eddies.
Each year independent film makers, marketing students, and beer connoisseurs create commercials and print ads for Big Rock Beer in hopes to win the coveted ‘Eddie‘.
This event is as much about the prizes as it is about the party.
But you say you have nothing to wear? Well yank that prom dress from the back of your closet, borrow your BFF’s hideous bridesmaids dress, or simply paint on a tux and you’ll be ready to dazzle!
Honestly I have never been at a loss for words in regards to fashion, but what I have witnessed at the ‘Eddies’ has left me speechless. Leave it to Calgary to dial it up a notch.
The night was full of great people and great beer, and although I am much more of a martini guy, Big Rock’s cider suited me just fine.
The big winners of the night were Blayke McWilliams and Mike McLaughlin for their video ‘Never Trust a Sound Guy’. They were really nice guys with a clear winner. Congrats!
And the two-time winner in the print ad category, Paul Buccini for ‘The Miracle of Creation’
Over $22,000 of prize money was given out at this years Eddies all the while supporting some great charities.
The night left me with a delicious taste in my mouth and a craving to get a piece of the pie next year. You’ve heard it her first, Mr. Fab will be entered in competition next year! I’ve got my eye on the prize!
