Lets stray away from my face in today’s post and talk about my other ‘very odd’ money maker.
Call me George Costanza, because crazy enough, I am also a hand model.
Trust me when I tell you I didn’t go to an agency looking for hand representation. This honor just fell into my lap. It all started when I was doing a group shot for Smart Technologies. The photographer needed someone to hold the pen so he could get a close shot. He went around the room looking for the nicest hands of the bunch and chose lucky ol’ me.
I guess my chubby fingers where having a thin day. Since then it has spiraled into me being called a ‘hand model’
I’m not a weirdo, I don’t walk around in protective gloves, in fact, most of the time when I get booked for a job they are all beat up. But the important part is, I have nice nail beds and a good white to pink ratio, editing takes care of the rest.
One of the hardest shoots I have ever done was for Calgary Farmers Market. I had to hold a slippery lemon which was covered in petroleum jelly to keep it looking fresh and juicy. At the end of the shoot my hand was frozen into a claw for 2 days. (Ken Woo/photo)
Trust me, it’s not as easy or as glamorous as it looks.
