The Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine & Colour-Treated Hair

May 29, 2018

Where my fine and colour-treated hair friends at? Can’t washing your hair be a tangly drag? Often products are too heavy, weigh your locks down or immediately wash your colour out…well, say so long to those woes; the below list of my favourite shampoo and conditioners for fine and colour-treated will change your hair life, one shower at a time.

Kérastase PARIS Aura Botanica Collection – $43-$45

The first thing you will notice about this Aura Botanica line from Kérastase is the incredible smell. I call it ‘Tropical sunshine with a sophisticated edge’. I can’t stop sniffing it…and my hair once I use it.

Now, this new collection with Samoan coconut and Moroccan argan oils from Kérastase defines responsible luxury. Composed of 98% natural origin ingredients, this line leaves your hair feeling lightweight, healthy and frizz free (for up to 72 hours….perfect for sticky Toronto summers). With no sulfates, no silicones, no parabens…it is a guilt-free way to truly pamper your hair. Excellent for slightly damaged hair, I love this new collection, especially their Bain Micellaire RICHE (shampoo) and their Lait de Soie (a smoothing, leave-in milk).

REDKEN Color Extend Magnetics –  $30

I have been a fan of REDKEN products for a very long time. They are always effective and do what they say. So, when I was given their ‘2015 New Beauty Award Best Shampoo for Color Treated Hair’ – I was excited to give it, and the paired conditioner, a try.

I like to try new shampoo and conditioners out right when I get a fresh colour done. I think the first few washes with a new colour really determine how well a product works to lock in the colour, rather than wash it out. I tried the REDKEN Colour Extend Magnetics collection out right after my latest colour and was so pleased with the results. My hair colour tends to fade out quickly, and, by using this shampoo and conditioner, my colour stayed looking fresh and vibrant.

REDAVID Cedarwood Shampoo and Light Conditioner – $24

REDAVID is a Canadian, haircare brand created by Leonardo Redavid with inspiration gathered over three decades of being in the hair industry. Each products is tested for three years before being released, so you know products are very well thought out and proven to work. All ingredients used in REDAVID products are high quality, naturally derived and work to treat, thicken and leave your hair in great condition.

Because I have fine hair, I was recommended the REDAVID Cedarwood line. This is their lightest line and is designed for normal to dry, medium to fine hair. This line is Sulfate and Paraben-free and works to make your hair clean and well nourished. The Cedarwood oil ‘ invigorates, stimulates & freshens hair & scalp.’ The smell is light and flowery, without being obnoxiously so, and you can use this line everyday. I am loving how soft and manageable my hair has become using this line and highly recommend it for my fine-haired friends.

Phyto Paris Phytomillesime Collection – $30 – $54

This collection is pure luxury. With five steps, it is not for the wash-n-go crowd. With this you need time and patience…but the results are worth it.

Here are the steps, in order for colour-locked, luxurious feeling hair:

1) PHYTO, Phytomillesime, Color Locker Pre-Shampoo, $48

A unique gel-in-oil texture, this pre-shampoo ‘top coat’ smooths down the hair while strengthening the natural protective film. Think of this product as seal for the pigments in the hair fiber (before contact with water) that locks in colour.

2) PHYTO, Phytomillesime, Color Enhancing Shampoo, $30

Sulfate-free and very gentle, this washes the scalp and hair while preventing colour from fading with the use of edelweiss flower extract.

3) PHYTO, Phytomillesime, Color-enhancing Mask, $54

This luxurious-feeling cream mask works to repair the hair. The integrity of the hair fiber is restored, colour lasts longer, the hair is gorgeous and shiny.

4) PHYTO, Phytomillesime, Beauty Concentrate (Leave-in), $45

On damp hair, you use this leave-in concentrate for additional shine, protection and colour-locking. This also helps prevent static and creates hair ready for easy styling.

5) PHYTO, Phytomillesime, Color Protecting Mist, $40

An ‘anti-colour stripping shield’, this mist is the final step in this collection, it enhances and helps prolong hair colour while adding shine.

I’d love to hear if you love these products as much as I do!
