Cryotherapy in Calgary!

April 27, 2017

I am insanely busy throughout my days but when I have some downtime I pull scroll my PVR and choose which of my girls I’ll spend my time with.

Real Housewives of… ‘wherever’ is my guilty pleasure.

And following their lives on-air has made me want to join in on their guilty pleasures!

The most recent; Cryo Therapy! (A process that involves lowering the body’s surface skin temperature from approximately 90.5°F to around 32°F for about 2-3 minutes by way of Nitrogen mist which gently surrounds the body at -238°F to -274°F.)

And ALL the Housewives are doing it!

Invented in 1978 (much younger then most of the shows cougars), cryotherapy, which was invented in Japan, for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis has since been further studied and refined and is now utilized all over the world.

Some of the main benefits are to help athletic recovery and muscle repair, reduction of chronic pain and inflammation as well offer and an overall enhancement of health and wellness.

Who wouldn’t want CRYO!

Now here’s the thing… I’m in Canada and the importation of Cryotherapy Machines have recently been place on hold by whichever government department continues to slow down our advanced health advancements, pending further review. Which means they are hard to come by.

Thankfully 1 of the less than 10 machines in Canada is here in Calgary at Bronze Baxx.

So after a noon-time boxing fitness class, I decided to Real Housewife myself a Cryo session to see what all the hubbub was about.

So what was it all about?

Real Talk…

I loved it!

Sure, though out the 3 minute treatment (super quick and efficient), there were moments when I could have swore my love handles had completely frozen and were about to fall off (if it were only that easy), but it wasn’t anything a cold weather Canadian hasn’t belly ached about before.

But when those 3 minutes were up, I literally flew out of the chamber like a naked Mighty Mouse.

Then, for the rest of the day, I continued on with the feeling of a clothes super hero. I was energetic and focused, not to mention I had ALL the pep to my step!

Cryotherapy is currently being used around the world and is recommended by top doctors as a way to remedy some pretty hefty ailments. “European medical studies have shown that Whole Body Cryotherapy can help alleviate the symptoms of chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders, ankylosing spondylitis, ankylosing spondylosis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, dermatitis and osteoporosis. Studies in Europe have also shown that whole body cryotherapy is beneficial in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, and depression.”

So go, give Cryotherapy a try!

Doctors, Medical Documentation, Bronze Baxx and Real Housewives are definitely on to something here and I’m a fan!

See you in the chamber of Brrrrrrrrr!
