Where the ‘Buffalo’ Roam

January 17, 2017

Last week I had a rare few days with no pre-planned commitment. It was the perfect time to spend some uninterrupted time with family.

So I called my mom, flew her to Alberta and switched off the phone for a relaxing getaway to the mountains.

And after a day filled with shopping, sightseeing and (let’s be honest) freezing, it was time to find the perfect place to eat and sleep… Warm fireplace a must!

So it was decided… And we were off to Buffalo Mountain Lodge!

A beautiful Canadian Rocky Moutain Resort property, Buffalo Mountain Lodge offers cozy, yet roomy suites with super soft beds, claw foot tubs, L’Occitane amentiy products and the 1 thing on our ‘must-have’ list:

A fireplace. Wood burning at that!

After checking in and spending some time warming up, we were off to dinner in their newly renovated Sleeping Buffalo restaurant.

With high vaulted pine ceilings and finishing touches inspired by the resort’s natural surroundings, we knew we had picked the perfect place and were in for a treat!

We started with a Charcuterie Board filled with impressive local, house-made offerings like Elk Salami, Air-Dried Buffalo, Smoked Duck Breast, Wild Boar Pate, Aged Sylvan Star Gouda, Mustard Melons, Olives & Pickles.

Deliciously memorable, we could have stopped there and been 100% satisfied.

But like me, my mom loves to try everything, so from Artisan Salads with Grilled Pear…

To Seared Scallops, Wild Boar Tenderloin and a plethora of other CRMR Ranch Game, we ate until we could eat no more.

Well, that was until we were presented the dessert menu. And who could say no to a Warm Pear, Almond and Frangipane Tart… With a scoop of Maple Carmel Ice Cream of course!

With that, it was time to tummy tap out and head back to our room for an 8 hour hibernation.

Having a few days to disconnect was great. But having the time to reconnect with family in a picture perfect setting over a unforgettable dinner was amazing!

Thanks for the memories Buffalo Mountain Lodge… We’ll be back!
