I think the key for beautiful, healthy skin is a good night’s sleep, a solid amount of hydration and a skin routine filled with products you want to use.
Skin thrives when you have a good balance hydration, exfoliation and moisture. I think the best way to ensure your routine is performing, is to boost your routine with weekly masking.
And lucky for us, we’re living in a masking golden age!
There are thousands of types of masks from all over the world – from gimmicky to science-backed.
I’ve selected some unique facemasks I think you’ll love and easily be able to incorporate into your weekly regime.
Ok. I know, this one isn’t really ‘unique’ but it is my current favourite for adding a boost of hydration while simultaneously slipping away to the tropics. The coconut smell of this is incredibly delicious and relaxing. Let sit for 5-10 then blend up that piña colada 😉 You can pick this up at Shopper’s Drug Mart across Canada.
Originating in South Korean skin care, sheet masks are a super convenient way to get a bang for your buck. These face-shaped papers are made of natural fibres that soak in and hold the ‘essence’ of the mask. (Think of ‘essence’ like another name for ‘serum’).
Easy because you can apply, go about your business for twenty minutes, and then simply peel off. The residual essence can then be patted into your skin – no rinsing or scrubbing required.
These character masks from The Face Shop are unique as each animal is a different style of mask – from moisturizing to brightening. And you get to look ridiculous whilst wearing them. Perfect for a fun girls night. You can pick these up at The Face Shop.
For Beloved One : Hyaluronic Acid GHK-Cu Moisturizing Bio-Cellulose Mask
The name is a mouthful but these masks claim extreme hydration. These Taiwanese cosmeceutical favourites are science-backed sheet masks that come three to a box. Their strength is how fast they penetrate skin. The bio-cellulose in these masks enhances the absorption of the essence and provides instant rejuvenation. I found this mask left my skin feeling incredibly soft and dewy looking, long after I removed it. You can find this brand at T&T and online at yesstyle.ca.
Vichy’s Multi-Masking, 3 Mineral-Infused Masks
I love Vichy and think their latest release of three masks that work simultaneously is an idea long overdue.
Having three masks with unique benefits allow you to customize your mask. Maybe your T-Zone needs purifying while your cheeks are always dry and need hydration…having this Vichy masking system you can treat each portion of your face differently…simultaneously! You can find these at Shoppers Drug Mart across Canada, separately or in a convenient 3-pack.
A mask for your kisser! I love Skyn’s localized patch-style masks for the face and this Fall they realeased masks just for your lips! Designed to target loss of fullness, lines and wrinkles around your mouth and depleted moisture levels, these peel and place gels work in ten minutes. No rinsing or scrubbing needed, just peel off then be on with your day. You can pick these up in a five-pack at Shoppers Drug Mart across Canada. If you’re taking this time – I’d also use their Hydro Cool Firming Face Gels that target forehead and smile lines.
Time is precious that’s why I love products that do more than one thing at one time.
Dr Roebuck’s is a new brand brought to Canada by twin sisters from Australia. I am a big fan of their serums and this Polish! After gently rinsing and drying your face, you apply a small dollop of Polish to your face. Making small circles, you can feel the natural exfoliators in this product go to task. Massage your face and then let sit for a couple minutes. Smelling of peppermint, this 2-in-1 scrub and mask leaves my face super soft and invigorated feeling. You can find this new line across Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Masking is part luxury, all impact. Incorporating this step into your routine will absolutely create positive changes for your skin.
