Cracking open the perfect avocado gives me a sense of accomplishment (for my very-grown up ability to be patient) as well as deep satisfaction as there is nothing finer in the wide world of dips, than guacamole!
And with Cinco de Mayo today – here a great guac recipe as well as a tequila-infused cocktail recipe you can really say Olé about!
First – add pineapple to your guacamole! Trust me, it is a good idea. Not like adding peas, which was a terrible idea, New York Times.
First – how do you pick the perfect avocado?
The trick I use is to flick off the small stem at the top of the avocado. If it comes away easily and you find green underneath, you’ve got a good avocado that’s ripe and ready to eat.
I was recently introduced to Avocados from Mexico, importing into North America since 1997. Their Haas avocados are lovely and perfect for guac-making.
This is their Holy Pineapple Guacamole Recipe:
I think tequila is the perfect drink to pair your guac-feast with; so here is my recipe for a new favourite tequila cocktail I think you’ll love.
It has no name, so suggestions below are appreciated!
First – get good tequila!
Like Casamigos tequila I use the Casamigos Blanco – which is clean and crisp and smooth.
Pouring 1.5 ounces of this George-Clooney approved tequila over ice, I then mix it with a lovely tart organic juice – like this KIJU pomegranate cherry juice.
I top it off with some ice-cold Soda Steam water and voila; you got yourself a refreshing and tangy sidekick for that Cinco de Mayo celebration.
So go on, crack open those avocados and celebrate NOW – we’d love to see how your recipes turn out – so share them with us on our Facebook!
