Safer Internet Day

February 9, 2016

Today the world is coming together to commit to Safer Internet Day. An initiative started by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

Here at FAB we’ve been using the Internet over the past 4+ years to share fun stories and make sure everyone feels included.

We believe in responsible Internet usage.

Our team has ‘walked in a lot of shoes’ and we continue to enjoy stepping into others.

And because we feel it’s our differences that make us unique, we will also be teaming up with SHAW to share our #PinkyPromise on how we plan to make the Internet a safer place in hopes of reducing cyber bullying.

From today until national Pink Shirt Day (February 24th) we will be sharing our #PinkyPromise & #PinkShirtPromise pledges on social media.

And we want you to join us!

We want to know not only how you plan use the Internet responsibly but how you’ll stand up against bullying.

And for doing something good, our friends at SHAW are going to reward 1 lucky person that shares their pledge using #PinkyPromise & #PinkShirtPromise on their social media accounts a Grand Prize of a flight for two to Toronto; two nights hotel accommodation, an Entertainment Tonight Canada Experience and $1,500 dollar shopping spree to an Ivanhoe Cambridge mall!

It’s a pretty amazing ‘Thank-You’ for doing what’s right!

Here’s a quote that really made me think more about this sensitive issue:

“Bullying is one of the most common concerns we hear about at Kids Help Phone, and the effect that is had on young people—both emotionally and physically—is significant, regardless of whether they are being bullied or doing the bullying. We’re proud to stand in partnership with Shaw Communications to make a #PinkShirtPromise, and create safer and friendlier communities for all kids in Canada.”
– Sharon Wood, President and Chief Executive Officer, Kids Help Phone

So what’s my #pinkypromise?

I #pinkypromise that’ll I’ll continue to support and stand up for others on social media who do things differently. #quirkylove #PinkShirtPromise

So stand up and make a promise for the better!
