Coolican & Company

January 18, 2016

With Toronto’s Interior Design Show (IDS) on from January 21-24, there’s a lot of design buzz about town.

One of my favourite shows this city hosts, I love spotting new trends and meeting some of the city’s finest makers…like Coolican & Company.

Their stall last year got me all hot and bothered because of their ‘The Palmerston Stool’. I mean look at those legs! For days!

After falling in love with a piece of furniture, meeting its creator is the only right thing to do.

Peter Coolican partnered with Chris Jackson in 2014 and Toronto’s first small batch furniture company was born.

Small batch not only means ultra-gorgeous designs like their ‘The Edwin Chair’, it means limited run, super high quality products created locally by passionate craftsmen.

Invited to their studio, I got a first look at their latest designs as well some of their popular pieces like their incredibly stylish, ‘The Wallace’ lamp.

Smelling of wood, peppered with handsome beardy men and a cute dog – this studio has got it all. I could move right in and be perfectly happy…just me and my leggy stools…

If you are in Toronto Jan 21-24, stop by the IDS for some serious inspiration and home design envy. Also make sure to stop by Coolican & Company’s stall, which is part of the ‘Maker’ area.

You can see all of the above pieces plus their brand new ‘The Madison Chair’, which I assure you, will bring you to tears from its pure perfection.
