I’ve always dreamt of small town living; quaint shops, bistros, coffee & wine bars, a place where everyone knows your name.
And then, on a warm afternoon in July, the residents would all come together for a community picnic!
There would be checkered blankets, tons of food, and exciting games would be played all whilst the sound of laughter filled the air!
But this is just a small town dream and because I live in the big city, that dream would never happen…
Or would it!?
On July 19th, the community of Currie Barracks will play host to a free public picnic block party for all of Calgary to enjoy!
Right now, the ex home to the Canadian Armed Forces is undergoing a major transformation which will soon make it a liveable, walkable urban village for residents and visitors to enjoy!
And because they are so excited about their progress, they thought it time to celebrate and share their vibrant future with this afternoon affair!
There will be face-painting, music, food trucks and more!
So grab a friend, family member or your best three legged race partner and come celebrate the amazing neighborhood of Currie Barracks!
