Tasty Tuesday (Tokyo Disney’s Unique Popcorns)

June 19, 2012

Part of the reason I travel is for the food. I know there are things in the world that I have yet to taste and on my most recent trip to Japan I found a mixed up version of one of my favourites….

Popcorn

Over at Disneyland they offer numerous flavoured popcorn varieties throughout the park. And once you buy a souvenir popcorn holder for 1,500 Yen you can refill it as many times as you want for 500 more.

For breakfast I decided to start with something sweet;

Strawberry

A sickly sweet popcorn that tasted like sugar dipped strawberries. So glazy, I filled the grooves in my teeth like a filling and I was tasting this stuff all day long!

For lunch I moved on to something a bit spicy;

Curry

This by far was the most fragrant, and it wasn’t easy to find. The smell filled the air with no clear direction on which way it was coming from.

So flavourful, I needed something to wet my whistle… But why buy a liquid when I could buy a popcorn that tasted like one;

Milk Tea

This was my favourite and tasted exactally like what it advertised; a dry version of sweet milk tea!

After a few rides my stomach began to take a turn for the worse. The mix of sugar and spice began to fight in my tummy and then I came across one last flavour.

Although my common sense said “NO” my desire and gluttony took the upper hand. 500 Yen was handed over and I was plowing through this!

Soy Sauce and Butter

No false advertising here.

For the rest of the day I stumbled around the park like a dazed Godzilla trying to sober up from a corn hangover.

For 500 Yen my bucket was constantly full and so was my tummy!

Thanks Disney for creating something new!

  1. Wow! I did not expect that popcorn would be fused with so many familiar flavours! I wonder what the soy sauce & butter popcorn tasted like, such an odd yet interesting combination!

  2. I just have to say this is one of my favorite posts mainly because I can just picture you stumbling through the park looking for more places to fill your bucket! I want to go to Tokyo Disney now just for the soy sauce & butter popcorn. So wrong it’s right.

Looking forward to reading your comments!
