Mr.Fab takes on San Francisco

May 29, 2012

This week it’s time to board a plane and spread a little Fab across the world.

First stop, San Francisco.

There are so many things to see and do in this city and if you’re gay with a furry face, you’ll just fit right in!

The home of the gay rights movement and Harvey Milk, this city has worked out its kinks and is just having a good time. The city is vibrant and alive; everybody is looking to celebrate.

Toss in a cruise port, amazing restaurants, museums and special events and you have a city that people want to visit and play in.

Here where a few of my favourite things I discovered while I was there.

Betelnut

Take a great dish from every Asian culture, put it on a menu and toss in a ridiculous drink that’s reminiscent of an over-the-top Vegas drink,

and you’ve got a restaurant that is nothing less than a good time.

Of course there is nothing better than being in a city when their galleries are hosting special exhibits.

While I was there, the de Young Museum was hosting the Jean Paul Gaultier Fashion Exhibit…

There were one hundred or so mannequins with projected faces, that spoke and interacted with the viewers while wearing some of the most impressive and influential designs spanning the career of JPG.

One of the most notable pieces in the collection:

The cone bra from Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’ video.

Now I am a big fan of small scale items that are blown out of proportion and placed around the city as ART, and SF has plenty.

The Rocket Ship

The Safety Pin

And with the last one I decided to bring it down to scale and use mimiature mode on my camera to turn it back into a toy…

The Bow and Arrow

With so much to see and do in this city, the 5 days I spent there were definitely not long enough.

So I leave you with a famous quote from one of my favourite 80’s sitcoms;

Everywhere you look (everywhere)

There’s a heart (there’s a heart)

A hand to hold on to.
