Another day, another fabulous giveaway for my readers!
This Friday downtown Calgary will present Alley Oop – an operascape – in the alley behind Stephen Avenue Walk between 1st and 2nd Street SW.
This amazing event will be one-night only, Friday, May 4th, 2012 and I’ve got 2 tickets ($84 value) to give to a lucky reader
So what is Alley Oop?
No, it’s not Kirstie Alley… It’s much better!!
Beginning as early as 6 pm guests can stroll down ‘Stephen Avenue Walk’ and enjoy various pre performance “pods” inside storefronts. Audience members will enjoy various reception sites along the ‘Walk’ and sample beverages (wine & beer) and delicious local fare.
Then at 8:45 revelers will re-gather on Stephen Avenue Walk and be escorted into the alley, led by a stilt walker!
At sundown, a unique installation which combines some of opera’s greatest hits specially arranged by Boris Derow, sung by a quartet of sopranos high and low will be performed.
Then, upon its conclusion, everybody will move to the final party destination;
A prohibition styled back alley entry into the James Joyce Tavern and Palomino Room.
I’m super excited to see what this event has in store for us. I’ve been told that this company presents innovative productions in intimate settings, making the audience feel like part of the action, and proves opera doesn’t have to be big to be grand.
Add in the food and drink… It couldn’t get any better!
So you and a guest want to go?
As always you have 2 ways to enter;

All kinds of music are enjoyable but in order to get people up and dancing at a “dying” party, the good ole’ Rock n’ Roll is the best !!!
Classical, and metal are my favorites for sure!
