A few weeks ago while shopping I noticed a rather odd looking Barbie in a store window so I decided to pop in.
As it turns out this Barbie was part of the ‘Gold‘ collection (I still have no idea what that means) and it was designed by a famous Japanese artist, Tokidoki.
What was unusual about this doll, is that it was covered in tattoos and according to the clerk this is the first and only Barbie Mattel has ever approved with ink.
As my friend is a collector I decided for $55 it would make a nice Christmas gift.
When I got home I was looking at the box and noticed a sticker saying that there were only 7,400 made world-wide, this news sent me running to the computer to check eBay. Wouldn’t you know it, this Barbie is selling for $300-$500 on the auction site.
So if my BFF is reading this… Please don’t expect this under the tree.
